IL-7 signaling in T cells

The cytokine IL-7 is crucial for development and survival of T cells, and the focus of my work is on the influence of IL-7 signaling on T cell function, including regulation of the IL-7 receptor, downstream signaling mechanisms through JAK/STAT and PI3K, and further impact on T cell response. The effects of IL-7 signaling are evaluated on a genetic and a molecular level in relation to Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection, for a disease for which impaired IL-7 regulation and impaired T cell regulation in general may be involved.
