The aim of the Global Health Group Düsseldorf, as well as of the GHIDA, is to create an infrastructure for high-quality medical and scientific education and clinical research in a sustainable cooperation with Arsi University, other Ethiopian and international partners. Since the establishment of the institute, a wide range of capacity-building and professional exchange activities and joint workshops have been conducted.

Reflecting local needs and the expertise of the department at HHU in Düsseldorf, the Institute’s training and research activities focus on infectious diseases and hepatology. Key areas include HIV, tuberculosis, viral hepatitis, and parasitic diseases such as malaria, relapsing fever, and schistosomiasis. Research projects are developed jointly with local partners and address urgent health challenges in the region.
