The establishment of the institute, acquisition of laboratory equipment, staffing, and ongoing operational costs are supported through donations and third-party grants. The Heinz Ansmann Foundation for AIDS Research has provided continuous, generous support for HIV-related research.
The institute's setup was made possible through the generous support of, among others, the Hirsch Family and the Rotary Club Düsseldorf. A modern ultrasound device was financed by the Ministry of Health, Equality, Care, and Age of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. Laboratory equipment has been donated by companies such as Eppendorf, Qiagen, and Roche. Furniture, IT equipment, and additional laboratory devices are also financed through third-party funding for scientific projects, including support from the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).
