GHIDA’s activities are made possible through the commitment of philanthropic supporters, institutional partners, and competitive third-party funding. Donations and research grants support the development and maintenance of laboratory infrastructure, staffing, training activities, and ongoing clinical and scientific projects.

The institute has benefited from long-standing support from the Heinz Ansmann Foundation for AIDS Research, which has continuously contributed to HIV-related research activities. The establishment of the institute was further supported by the Hirsch family and the Rotary Club of Düsseldorf. Additional contributions from public and private partners have enabled the expansion of diagnostic and research capacity, including support for ultrasound technology from the Ministry of Health, Equality, Care and Aging of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and laboratory equipment provided by companies including QIAGEN, Roche, Sarstedt, Thermo Fischer, Eppendorf, NG Biotech, Echosens Fibroscan and Oxford Nanopore.

Research projects and infrastructure development have also been supported through competitive third-party funding, including collaborations with organizations such as the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ).

Sustainable funding and strong partnerships remain essential to further develop GHIDA’s research, training, and capacity-building activities. We are grateful to all donors and partners who contribute to strengthening equitable Global Health collaboration between Ethiopia and Germany.
