Weggen Lab (Molecular Neuropathology)

Our laboratory is primarily interested in the molecular neuropathology of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). AD is the most common age-related neurodegenerative disorder with currently around 5 million patients in Europe. With increasing life expectancy, the number of patients will surge to more than 11 million cases in the year 2050, a dramatic challenge for the public health care systems. Therefore, effective means for treatment or prevention of AD are urgently needed.
