Scaling up Vision Transformers for Biomarkers in Liver Disease

Transform Liver aims to leverage the new artificial intelligence technology of Vision Transformers to process histopathological and clinical data of patients with liver diseases.

Specifically, Transform Liver aims to

1. Generate new biomarkers to predict disease outcome and provide information for personalised treatment. These biomarkers aim to outperform classical neural-network-based approaches.
2. Yield a better understanding of disease systems in the liver, specifically cellular interactions, by using explainability approaches on trained Transformers.
