The institute provides state-of-the-art research infrastructure, including laboratory and fieldwork facilities, administrative and data management resources, and a seminar room. Together with strong scientific expertise, GHIDA provides an ideal environment for collaborative research, clinical innovation, and sustainable global health partnerships.

GHIDA is led by Prof. Dr. Torsten Feldt and Prof. Dr. Tafese B. Tufa, supported by an advisory board chaired by Prof. Dr. Tom Lüdde, Director of the Clinic of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Infectious Diseases at HHU, with Dr. Fikadu Mitiku Abdissa, President of Arsi University, and Prof. Nikolaj Klöcker, Dean of the Medical Faculty at HHU, as Secretaries General. GHIDA is further supported by approximately 30 dedicated staff members working across laboratory services, administration, research, and project implementation.

On an annual rotating basis, a resident physician from the Düsseldorf clinic is assigned to Asella to support the clinical team at Asella Referral and Teaching Hospital and to act as scientific coordinator at GHIDA.
