GHIDA is driven by a highly experienced and committed team of clinicians and researchers from Germany and Ethiopia, working together to advance global health, infectious diseases, and tropical medicine. Their combined expertise and extensive hands-on experience support the strengthening health systems, high-quality training, and impactful reserach.

The institute is chaired by  Prof. Dr. Tom Lüdde, who provides strategic oversight. GHIDA is led by Prof. Dr. Torsten Feldt, a long-standing expert in infectious diseases and tropical medicine, and co-directed on-site by Ass. Prof. Dr. Tafese B. Tufa, who oversees scientific coordination. Each year, a coordinator from University Hospital Düsseldorf joins the team in Asella as part of a structured tropical medicine rotation. GHIDA is further supported by approximately 20 staff members working across laboratory services, administration, research, and project implementation.
