ISAVE / Combat-AMR Workshop in Addis Abeba
In April 2026, ISAVE (Improving Sepsis Diagnosis in Vulnerable Populations) and COMBAT-AMR consortium meetings were held in Addis Abeba, bringing together investigators and collaborators to review project progress and define future strategic priorities.
Partners presented updates on study implementation, laboratory capacity building, antimicrobial stewardship (AMS), infection prevention and control (IPC), and the integration of molecular diagnostics into routine clinical practice. The consortium also agreed on coordinated publication strategies, established collaborative writing teams, and defined timelines for upcoming manuscripts on sepsis, antimicrobial resistance, and implementation research.
In addition, discussions focused on future funding opportunities, including applications to EDCTP, the German Research Foundation (DFG), and Horizon Europe, to further strengthen collaborative research on sepsis, antimicrobial resistance, genomics, and capacity building across sub-Saharan Africa.
The meetings reaffirmed the consortium's commitment to sustainable research partnerships, supporting early-career scientists, and translating research findings into improved patient care and public health throughout the region.
