New QIAGEN PCR Cycler

In April 2026, QIAGEN generously supported GHIDA by donating a new PCR cycler with a value of several tens of thousands of euros. The device has been transported by Dr. Ackermann carefully to Ethiopia. The donation was made after both previously available instruments had become non-functional, creating a major challenge for ongoing laboratory activities.

The new instrument is indispensable for routine molecular diagnostics and research, enabling reliable PCR analyses that are essential for numerous research projects, including infectious disease surveillance, antimicrobial resistance studies, and clinical investigations. This generous contribution ensures the continuity of high-quality research and significantly strengthens the laboratory capacity at the institute.
