Delegation from Heinrich Heine University and Düsseldorf University Hospital in Ethiopia

From May 19 to 22 2025, a delegation from Heinrich-Heine University and University Hospital Düsseldorf visited Ethiopia to strengthen academic and scientific cooperation with Arsi University in Asella and other national institutions.

In Addis Ababa, the group met with the German ambassador, representatives of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Ethiopian Minister of Health, and representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture. The talks focused on future opportunities for cooperation and coordination with national strategies in Ethiopia's health sector.

Further meetings took place at the Ethiopian Public Health Institute, followed by a visit to Arsi University and the Hirsch Institute of Tropical Medicine (HITM) in Asella. After an official welcome and a tour of the HITM facilities, an academic exchange took place with the president of Arsi University, during which professors from Düsseldorf University Hospital presented their departments and discussed future projects. The delegation then visited the Asella Referral and Teaching Hospital.

Overall, the delegation's visit deepened academic relations, identified new research approaches, and strengthened the partnership with Arsi University, laying the foundation for further long-term cooperation.
