Research Group Korzowski

Jun. Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Andreas Korzowski

Group leader

My research focuses on developing magnetic resonance (MR)-based techniques for metabolic and molecular imaging, with the aim of deepening our understanding of biochemical processes and metabolic fluxes in both healthy and diseased tissue. My expertise covers the entire experimental workflow, including sequence programming, reconstruction algorithms, and data evaluation, and I contribute to open-source initiatives to advance reproducibility and shareable science. In this context, I work with a wide range of MR techniques, including multinuclear MR spectroscopy (MRS, e.g., 1H, 31P), chemical exchange saturation transfer (CEST) MR imaging, and hyperpolarized (HP) 13C MRS.

A goal of my research is to leverage the complementary information from the different techniques employed to generate new insights, e.g., regarding energy metabolism.

Beyond my scientific work, I am dedicated to creating a collaborative and supportive environment where my team and I can tackle challenging questions and develop useful tools.

Postdoctoral researcher

My research focuses on developing methods in magnetic resonance spectroscopic imaging, with a special interest in multinuclear approaches. During my bachelor’s and master’s studies, I worked on techniques involving 31P and 1H spectroscopy, respectively. In my PhD, I explored the mutual information between these two techniques. I am particularly interested in understanding the physical and biochemical interpretations of the correlations between the two techniques.

I appreciate the highly interdisciplinary nature of this field and enjoy tackling problems that bridge engineering and biomedical research. Additionally, I work on developing open-source software tools and participate in sequence programming to support flexible and reproducible MRS research.
