PartCHILD

Improving the quality of care for children with chronic illnesses and disabilities in social pediatric centers

PART-CHILD is a consortium project funded by the Innovation Fund for Health Services Research from 2018-2021 (to the Innovation fund), led by Prof. De Bock. It comprises the development and implementation of a complex intervention for the implementation of participation-centered care for children with chronic diseases in 15 socio-pediatric centers (SPZ) in Germany. In addition to a multi-center stepped-wedge study to evaluate the intervention, the project includes surveys of qualitative and quantitative data on the practice and contexts of care for children with chronic illnesses in SPCs. PART-CHILD also includes a cohort study with more than 600 children with chronic illnesses between the ages of 3 and 18 and three measurement points, each 6 to 9 months apart. The cohort study collects information on the participation of children and adolescents, their care network and their utilization of care services as well as associated costs and burdens for families and parents.
