Child health services research in childhood and adolescence

The area of child health services research in childhood and adolescence is part of the Faculty of Medicine's research focus on society and health. It acts as a bridge between the Pediatric Clinic and the Centre for Health and Society (chs). It also supports the Center for Child Protection and the interdisciplinary care of people affected by violence (merged into the Trube-Becker-Haus from 2025). The department has been established since April 2022 under the leadership of Prof. Freia De Bock.

The department deals with population-related issues in the field of care and public health in children and adolescents. Our close connection between clinical and interdisciplinary-scientific work helps us here.

Our aim is to contribute to the evidence-based further development of care and public health in childhood and adolescence, as well as to health equity. To this end, we also develop and evaluate new care models that can be implemented in routine care and in the community and whose effectiveness we ensure. Our projects are implemented in close cooperation with decision-makers, practitioners and those responsible in the community, and with the involvement of the children concerned and their families.

Research focus

Our research focuses on 1) preventive child protection and the promotion of healthy child development and 2) the care of children with chronic illnesses.
