Dr. Dorit Biermann-Teuscher

Senior Scientist

Dorit Biermann-Teuscher is a qualified physiotherapist. After completing her studies in 2006 at the Hogeschool Zuyd in Heerlen (NL), she enjoyed working in a physiotherapy practice in the Netherlands for three years. Driven by the idea of bringing science and practice closer together, she began her part-time Master's programme in Health Education & Promotion at Maastricht University in 2008. After her master's degree, she completed her PhD at the same university. In her dissertation, she researched and discussed, among other things, the discrepancies between scientific practice and everyday life and how the continuous response to changing local conditions is essential for the success of public health interventions. She was then employed as a post-doc at the Department of Health, Ethics & Society at Maastricht University, where she developed and implemented health programmes in various companies together with employees using an ethnographic-participatory research approach. After completing this project, she took up a position as a health officer in one of the largest care companies in the Netherlands. Since December 2023, she has been working as project manager for the EvaChild (Evaluation of Childhood Homes) research project at the UKD's Child Health Services Research Department.
