Reference Center for Congenital Hyperinsulinism and Rare/Monogenic Diabetes
At our centre, we treat up to 200 newborns, children and adolescents with rare blood glucose regulation disorders every year, making it one of the largest centres of its kind in the world. We offer our patients comprehensive diagnostics, therapy and long-term care.
Every child is individual - this is especially true for children with rare diseases. Our aim is to provide your child with the best possible treatment based on the latest knowledge and to support your family in dealing with the disease on a daily basis. A multidisciplinary team of paediatricians, paediatric diabetologists and endocrinologists, diabetes and nutritional advisors, psychologists, physiotherapists and social workers are on hand to help. Inpatients are cared for on our KK02 ward, whose staff have many years of expertise in dealing with glucose regulation disorders.
The management of children with congenital hyperinsulinism and rare forms of diabetes is constantly evolving. We are particularly keen to help shape these developments. Therefore, we are in close dialogue with self-help groups and are running and involved in many research projects around these rare diseases both nationally and internationally.
